Management - Training is an investment for entrepreneurs Forward Thinking

The training is not new to small businesses or Fortune 1000 companies. Employees must be trained to learn specific skill sets within the job functions and policies and procedures. This is especially true in today's technology driven 24/7 business.

Over the past 100 years, training was seen by some as a necessary evil. The prevailing belief was "We have to train them." And when sales collapsed or merged companies, the faith of leadership or management has been to cut the budget for training as well as the human resources department. Now it really make sense?

If your people are the key to overcoming the current challenges, so why cut their resources when significant problems occur. This is the best time ever to invest (key word here is invest) in your people.

Reducing the training budget is in many cases a reaction to a symptom instead of the real problem much bigger or more problems. This problem and these problems may include the following:

Inability to define the desired results

TIP: If you can not define the desired results you want from the training, then why do the training? This has become a management problem, not a problem of training.

No Strategic Plan

TIP: If there is no strategic plan (who does what and when), the you and your people are on someone else's plan and the problem is not poor planning, training.

Outdated Strategic Plan

TIP: If you have not revisited the plan in the last 30 days, then the problem is not training, but the planning of new poor.

Poor communication

TIP: if 100% of your people can not tell you what are the top 3 organizational goals are for the current year, it has a communication problem is not a problem of training.

Inconsistent leadership

TIP: If your actions are not consistently focused on deliverables and your behaviors are not demonstrating shared values, then you have a leadership problem, not a problem of training.

With the fast approaching New Year and quarter ending soon, now is the time for you to forward thinking business leaders to use your leadership skills to evaluate what are the real problems that are facing not only the symptoms. You begin to believe that education is an investment in your people, and then in your organization.

Because without the most advanced systems (people) in your company, would not be able to conduct business, do you want? ......
